Trouble In Paradise: Mosquito Eradication
When it comes to weather and life on the Cayman Islands there is little to nothing to complain about. Warm weather, a beautiful clear ocean filled with gorgeous marine life, clean beaches, and sunny skies. However, where there is warm weather and water, pesky mosquitoes can be found. Especially in the more tropical environments. These unwanted, pesky critters have been wreaking havoc upon the Islands for as long as it has been around. Recently there has been a plan set in place to eradicate them from the island. Specifically, this eradication plan is targeting the Aedes aegypti mosquito, or better known as the Yellow Fever mosquito. These mosquitoes can spread Yellow Fever, a disease with symptoms that include fever, chills, headache, backache, and muscle aches. This eradication aims to raise awareness among the community in hopes that residents eliminate containers in which these mosquitoes like to breed and live in. According to the MRCU, an educated, aware, and engaged community is crucial and holds the key to ultimately making sure the eradication is successful. EightPoint will do everything we can to ensure that these pesky insects are eradicated.
